Quotes on Love

Published by montini under Relationships Edit This

Love is not getting, but giving.

It is sacrifice.  And sacrifice is glorious.  I have no patience with women who measure and weigh their love like a country doctor dispensing capsules.

If a man is worth loving at all, he is worth loving generously, even recklessly.

-Marie Dresler (1873)

What you have, Hold…

*******************

You can tell a lot about a man

by the way he handles these three things:

A rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights.

**********************

Love is such a big word, it really should have more letters.

Love Letter:

I feel sad when I don’t see you.  Be married, why won’t you?

And come to live with me.  I will make you as happy as I can.

You shall not be obliged to work hard; and when you are tired, you may lie in my lap and I will sing you to rest…

I would be always kind to you, I think, because I love you so well.

I will not make you bring in wood and water, or feed the pig, or milk the cow, or go to the neighbors to borrow milk.

-Zadoc Long, Maine storekeeper, Marriage proposal to Julia Davis, 1824

I wasn’t kissing her, I was whispering in her mouth.

Sentimental Holiday Giving…

Published by montini under Relationships Edit This

sentimental |ˌsen(t)əˈmen(t)l|adjective

of or prompted by feelings of tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia : she felt a sentimental attachment to the place creep over her: I’m a sentimental old fool.PHRASES: sentimental value the value of something to someone because of personal or emotional associations rather than material worth.

I never set out with the intention of making my family cry during the holidays, but I usually do.  It’s now expected of me and they seem to really look forward to boo-hooing!

It began the year I made my mother a collage of her older brother, who had passed away suddenly in an automobile accident.  I took photos from his childhood through adulthood and added some quotes etc.  She sobbed.

My intention was to give the gift from my heart, a gift that meant something, not just a trinket I picked up at the mall.  I know that perception is one’s own reality, but making each gift and SEEING the look on the receipents face was more of a gift to me than them.  What a cool feeling when you reach the point in your life that you’d much rather give than to receive.  (Well, of course I like to receive!)  Who ever grows out of that Christmas morning anticipation?  It just feels ten times better to see the ones you love CRY!!  I’d like to share some of my holiday gift giving ideas with you…
