REINVENT rather than REINVEST
“Nothing in nature is exhausted in its first use”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Not only do you save money by reinventing things around your home, instead buying something new,
you are recycling things that usually end up in the landfill.
~ old salt & pepper shakers, empty Jam jars and perfume bottles make great bud vases.

~ For a funky table setting take bangle type bracelets and use them as napkin rings.

~ I use all types of plastic containers that recycling centers do not accept for mixing craft paints. You know those hard plastic covers that come on most items, you usually pull them off and toss them, they make a great place to mix paint colors! Styrofoam egg cartons and old ice cube trays work great as well!

~ Have some of your socks seen their better days? Use them as dusting rags.

~ Glue a magnet onto Beer bottle tops, great refrigerator magnets, you could even paint or decoupage them!

~Everybody has an I-Pod or MP3 player these days. So what do you do with all those old CDs and CD cases once you’ve imported all your music to your player? Here are a few ideas:
Take old cds and thread them onto an old lamp base rod, take five or ten cds thread them onto the rod, then use washers or chunky bead as separators, add five or ten more cds and beads, continue until you like what you see. Add a funky shade and you’ve just turned an old lamp and useless cds into a cool new lamp!
Take the cd cases, open them up and turn them so the inside of the case is facing down. Lift the cover up and insert a photo or recipe card for easy viewing!

Send me your ideas for reinventing old items, I’d love to hear from you.
